Meet the Chu Family

Bill and Joann Chu and Family Through the years, Bill and Joann Chu have seen God’s faithfulness to lead them through major life changes. Before their marriage, Bill experienced a long process of waiting on God before the time was right for he and Joann to marry. They have now been married for 25 years, and have four children.

Soon after their marriage, they were blessed with the arrival of Evelyn (24 years) and Everett (22 years). When expecting their third child, Bill and Joann struggled with accepting another baby. All of their friends had only two children, and they were not ready to have a larger family. However, God changed their heart through a message about the Biblical view of receiving children as gifts from God. (See Psalm 127.) As a result, they joyfully welcomed Eva (20 years). Ethan (12 years) was born after they began asking God for the gift of another child.

God also led the Chu family through a major relocation in 1998. After living in California for twenty-nine years, they moved to the midwest. Although leaving their roots in California was a major emotional challenge, God blessed them with the confidence they needed through rhemas in His Word. They now live in South Bend, Indiana, where Bill works as a mechanical project engineer for South Bend Controls.

The Chu family enjoys the outdoors and is humbled by the beauty of God’s work in nature. Their children play several different instruments, and they delight in ministering to others through music. The family also enjoys gardening, painting, photography, and cooking—Bill especially enjoys the eating part!
